Hey guys, how is everybody doing? Today I am going to talk about smoothies. Although I am having a smoothie almost every single day, I haven’t been posting any recipes yet. Mostly because I have them for breakfast, and I am kind of lazy in the morning. It takes me some time to wake up and get ready for the outside world. Not a morning person. Having at least one raw, fruit based meal a day is crucial for optimal health and overall well being. You will feel more energized and hydrated than ever. Fruit is often considered as a „healthy dessert“ by many. I don’t agree with that because one, fruit should be consumed before having a cooked meal, it is digested much faster and having it after lunch may lead to bloating and two, fruit in an appropriate amount can and should be an entire meal.
– VERBENE & ORANGE –
This smoothie is so amazing because of its simplicity. Bananas, orange juice, pear, spinach and lemon verbena. Have you heard of lemon verbena? I buy mine at the Lend farmers market in Graz, and I am so happy about discovering it. It is so fresh and smooth in its taste and adds a very special note to this combination of simple and well known fruit. Don’t worry about the spinach, smoothies are the perfect way to eat your greens. The sweetness of the fruit, and the strong taste of lemon verbena will enhance the deliciousness of spinach. Don’t you ever forget: fruit, veggies & leafy greens are made for each other.
for 1 or 2; vegan & gluten free & raw & sugar free
– 2 ripe banans
– 2 oranges
– 1 pear
– handful of frozen spinach
– handful of lemon verbena
1. Blend it up. Sip it up. Enjoy.
Lemon verbena is used of digestive disorders. It is also used for agitation, joint pain, trouble sleeping, asthma, colds, fever, and skin conditions. It distresses and strengthens the nervous system.
Oranges help to prevent cancer, because they are rich in citrus limonoids. They prevent kidney diseases and recede the risk of liver cancer. They are full of potassium, an electrolyte mineral which is responsible for helping the heart function well. Oranges are full of vitamin C which protects cells by neutralizing free radicals, they also fight against viral infections.
